American Heritage Girls
American Heritage Girls is a fast-growing scouting program for girls ages kindergarten through 12th grade which supports the traditional values of God, family and country. AHG's programming promotes the Judeo-Christian values upon which our country was founded and strives to enhance the girls' life experiences with fun-filled activities supervised by trained adults, supported by family members, and implemented by members. AHG's programming provides life skills, leadership skills and character-building through a traditional troop setting.
American Heritage Girls is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. The organization offers merit badge programs, service projects, leadership opportunities, and outdoor experiences to its members.
The founders of the American Heritage Girls and the volunteers of today give all credit for the success of AHG to God for His constant hand upon the organization and His unceasing blessings.
Our troop MO2005 meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at PCA from 6:30 - 8:00. The sponsors are Krista Marcotte and Cari Borsa. The AHG website is http://www.ahgonline.org/
Blues/Jazz Band (new for 2008-2009)
PCA is excited to offer a jazz band open to auditions for musicians in grades 5-12. Mr. Paske will be teaching students the history of Blues and Jazz while demonstrating how Blues/Jazz music is a cornerstone in the St. Louis area. We are planning several interesting concert opportunities.
Auditions will be open for piano, bass guitar, drums, and maybe an occasional vocalist.
Any student auditioning for the Blues/Jazz Band at PCA must currently be studying privately with an instructor, practice daily, and enjoy the performance arts.
Chess Club
The Fellowship Chess Club is in its fourth year at PCA. Club meetings consist of short lessons, chess problems, and lots of chess. We conduct our own in-house tournament with prizes to be awarded to the winners. Also, all team members participate in two local US Chess Federation tournaments. All students in grades 5-12 are invited to join.
Membership dues: age 14 and under, $35; 15 and older, $47.
Dues covers membership in the US Chess Federation and all entry fees in two local tournament events. Members receive an official rating from the US Chess Federation to see how their ratings compare to other chess aficionados from all over the United States as well as track their own progress. In addition, students 15 and over receive the monthly US Chess Federation magazine. A portion of the dues is applied toward the purchase of chess accessories.
Beginners are welcome! Personal instruction is available.
Cub Scout Pack 788
Cub Scouting is a year-round family program designed for boys who are in the first grade through fifth grade (or 7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age). The Cub Scouts are part of the nationwide Boy Scouts of America organization. PCA sponsors Pack 788, which is part of the Greater St. Louis Area Council.
Pack 788 meets twice monthly during the school year at PCA. During the summer, we meet at least once a month for activities.
Our Pack consists of more than just boys from Providence Christian Academy. We are well represented by homeschool boys and boys from other schools. Your son must be at least in first grade and no older than eleven to join.
The Pack is involved in many activities during the year. We start the year with our annual family campout, followed by Scouting for Food, Popcorn Sales, the Christmas Service Project, Blue and Gold Banquet, Pinewood Derby, the annual Bottle Rocket Launch, and Summer Camp. This is by no means the end all of that we do. The boys will have the opportunity to do more activities within their Den.
Fifth Grade History Trip
As the culmination of their study of American history, our 5th grade students take an extended historical tour of Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, each year.
